WHEW,

It's tough to really get out and see the city in daylight and at a non-life-threatening speed when all my poor body wants to do is stay inside, recover, and prepare for tonight's upcoming revelry.

As I write this, the next room's TV is on and I can recognize the scene-change music from various sitcoms, but all the voices are in Italian.
Earlier it was the Muppets in Italian.

Only minutely sore today, but more than a little slow...sigh.

The evenings are quite well worth the price. Last night, after a yummy spaghetti dinner with the most fantastic baked pears for dessert, I helped close the bar again and we went (god knows where, I just hang on and enjoy the ride) to a friend's pub where we met all the employees with whom we had just closed the bar. Dinner, drinks, two more pubs, Music, and bunches of friendly people then the flight back home.

When the drinks are complimentary, Rome is CHEAP. In an effort to avoid free-loading, I snuck away to a back bar and tried to buy a round when no one was looking. It worked, but I felt bad afterward because I think I got the bartender in trouble for having let me pay. This is too much.

The lovely Aussies who run this hostel are more than a little amused by me.
They all get together in the evenings and head out for a drink, but have all
been in bed for a couple hours by the time I make through the door. Of course, they are also making it OUT of the hostel at a reasonable time.

Okay...time to go wander about the sunlit Rome some more.

Ciao,
-Jason
